Fabulous Friday~Repurposing Old Jeans

July13

Fabulous Friday is a way to recap the week and give you some frugal tips for the weekend. Please share what you’re up to this weekend! Molly

Re-purposing is just a fancy word for making something new out of something old. I love to do this when decorating in our home as well as with clothes. When I came across this tutorial for re-purposing a pair of little girl’s jeans into a twirly skirt I was so excited! I hope to have a more quiet weekend than usual (as well as a pile of children’s jeans with holes in the knees) so this sewing project may the perfect solution. All you need for this project is a pair of jeans, some cute fabric, a sewing machine and thread.

In the past I’ve cut off jeans and made shorts for my older children in the summer. They had outgrown the length during the winter months and the boys had worn some holes in the knees so shorts seemed the perfect solution since the waist still fit. I simply cut the pants off just above the knee, determined the “perfect” length and then hemmed the raw edges. Doing this greatly helped the summer wardrobe dilemma (especially for the older children who have no hand-me-downs).

What’s on your agenda this weekend? Do you have any re-purposing projects in your future?
